TNT Hoau completes day-definite road distribution

Guangzhou, China – TNT Hoau, TNT’s road distribution arm in China, today announced the completion of its nationwide day-definite road distribution network. During the past two months, TNT Hoau extended the coverage to Chengdu, Chongquing, Zhengzhou, Xian, Yantai and Xiamen. The company now offers guaranteed day-definite ground delivery to 26 of the biggest cities in the country, using 246 day-definite linehauls. The network covers 800 depots throughout China, with a large concentration in the major economic regions, including the Yangtze river delta, the Pearl River Delta, and the Bohai Bay.

TNT sets clear step forward in achieving its e-commerce strategy

Amsterdam, TNT is expanding its e-commerce activities with the acquisition of e-fulfilment specialist TopPak. The parties signed an agreement to this effect today. With this acquisition, through its Parcel Service business, TNT is strengthening its position as market leader in the distribution market and adding an important link to its e-fulfilment service chain.

TNT and trade unions reach in-principle agreement on CLA and social plan

Hoofddorp, TNT and the trade unions have reached an in-principle agreement on the collective labour agreement (CLA) and the social plan. This agreement satisfies the starting points of the talks of both the trade unions and TNT Post. The TNT CLA will run from 1 April 2009 to 31 December 2011. All TNT employees in the Netherlands will receive a 0.7% pay rise as of 1 January 2010. A differentiation will be made from 1 April 2010 in the form of separate CLAs to be agreed for the entities TNT Post, TNT Express and TNT Post Parcel Service. A 1% rise has been agreed as of 1 January 2011 and 0.2% as of 1 October 2011 for the TNT Post entities (excluding TNT Post Parcel Service). New negotiations will shortly commence on separate CLAs for TNT Express and TNT Post Parcel Service to take effect on 1 April 2010. TNT Post and the trade unions will also set up a joint working group to explore a future-proof pension scheme for TNT Post.

German Federal Administrative Court: ordinance postal minimum wage null and void

Amsterdam/Leipzig, Today the Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig, Germany, ruled that the ordinance on the postal minimum wage of EUR 9.80 is null and void. The basis for this decision is that the German State failed to give TNT Post in Germany the opportunity to make written comments prior to the issuance of the ordinance, as required by law.

TNT Post Germany reaches agreement with publishers to start “mail alliance”

Amsterdam, TNT Post Holding Deutschland GmbH has signed an agreement with Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH & Co. KG, CITIPOST-Verbund-GmbH and Logistic-Mail-Factory (a company of Mediengruppe Pressedruck, Augsburg) to establish “mail alliance” in Germany. With this new alliance, TNT Post strengthens the existing co-operation with the mail distribution companies of leading German publishers. “mail alliance” will be operational as of 25 January 2010.

TNT Post: Gradual introduction of minimum wage feasible and necessary

Amsterdam, TNT Post has taken note of the announcement by Sandd and DHL Global Mail that they will be requesting summary proceedings to challenge the “Temporary decree on postal contract of employment”. TNT Post is urging the Dutch government not to relax the minimum social requirements agreed by all players when the Dutch postal market was liberalised.

TNT makes urgent appeal to unions

Amsterdam, TNT is surprised and disappointed at the trade unions’ stance on the company’s collective labour agreement and social plan, as announced by the unions today. TNT sees no common ground whatsoever between the unions’ stance and the seriousness of the issues faced by TNT Post. Since 2007, the necessary cost savings have been extensively discussed with the unions. A recent study by research agency Ecorys, commissioned by the unions, reconfirmed that far-reaching cost measures are necessary to maintain the viability of the company.

TNT third-time winner of Henri Sijthoff Prize for best financial reporting

Amsterdam, The annual report of international mail and express delivery company TNT has for the third time received the Henri Sijthoff Prize for best financial reporting. Dutch newspaper Het FD awards the prize annually to companies that distinguish themselves through their financial reporting. TNT also won the prize in 1996 and 2004.

TNT Express launch online PoD signature image service globally

Amsterdam, TNT Express will now provide its customers with online access to PoD signature images. It is a new standard feature of the company’s track and trace facility within its online and PC-based shipping tools myTNT, ExpressShipper, ExpressManager and ExpressConnect. Images are available from over 85 countries worldwide, including all mature express markets, emerging markets such as China, India and Brazil, as well as many other destinations.

TNT sees basis for further discussion in Ecorys study for unions

Amsterdam, TNT sees a basis for further discussion in the proposals put forward by research agency Ecorys in its report, with cutbacks in conditions of employment remaining necessary to safeguard jobs. On behalf of the trade unions ABVAKABO FNV, BVPP and CNV Publieke Zaak, Ecorys looked into alternative solutions for the requisite cost savings at TNT Post. The unions commissioned the study after the in-principle agreement on the Operations Collective Labour Agreement was jointly rejected by the union members in late April 2009.

Fierce and fair competition at TNT’s 2009 Drive Me Challenge final

Amsterdam, TNT organized the third Drive Me Challenge final on the illustrious MIRA track in the United Kingdom on September 30. Sixteen contestants, who were selected as the best local drivers through national pre-rounds, teamed up with operational managers for a fiercely competitive and good-spirited final round of this annual challenge. Drivers shed sweat and tears in their effort to win the coveted title of TNT’s fastest, most fuel efficient, safe and customer oriented driver in the year 2009. The teams from the Dutch TNT Post organization were the clear winners occupying the top three positions.

TNT increases express capacity between Asia and Europe

Hong Kong, Liege, TNT is enhancing its service capacity between China and Europe with the addition of a new dedicated B747-400ER freighter. Non-stop flights will operate between Hong Kong and TNT’s European air hub in Belgium. This allows for seamless connectivity with TNT’s leading air and road network for delivery throughout Europe. The company can thus offer its customers fast transit times, control and visibility over shipments moving between Asia and Europe, while optimising its costs and fleet utilisation.
